Hard Water Tips

In Sylvan Lake we have a ton of minerals like calcium in our water that likes to build up and harden. Sadly, this is very harsh on our household appliances. Check out these tips on how to help treat and prevent the build up of these harsh minerals in the most cost-effective way.

Vinegar

Versatile and natural! vinegar remains a Sylvan Lake household MUST! This is going to be your one-stop shop for getting rid of most hard water stains. Vinegar can be used on these commonly affected surfaces: Toilet Bowls, Dishwashers, Shower heads, and other faucets.

 Lemon

We all know lemon juice is a delicious commodity to have around the kitchen. But did you know that it can also suit other purposes in your house? Lemon rinds can be rubbed over your faucet heads and sink to combat any scum buildup. This buildup will tend to look like a rough powder and can be found on porcelain as well as glass surfaces.

 Baking Soda

Another everyday kitchen ingredient that can be used in more ways than one. Mix baking soda with vinegar and you have a fizzy, cleansing solution for your toilet bowl and sink drain. Remember, as most of the remedies before, this one requires some time sitting for the magic to really work.

Epsom’s Salt

This is one concoction that you won’t be able to live without! All you need is a cup of Epsom salts, half a cup of baking soda, and a splash of liquid dish soap. This eco-friendly blend will have hard water stains running on most affected surfaces.
